The Reality of Injustices

After reading the story of Tata Selo, I feel pity towards Tata Selo, the old man that became a murderer because of the injustices that he experienced. The old man experienced cruelties such as being physically assaulted by the kabesa, have his land taken because of poverty, having known that his daughter was sexually exploited and even go to prison for defending himself. He did not gain justice for all these injustices that he experienced. I pity the old man even though we know that murder is an immoral and dreadful crime to us, human. It is sad to think that the reality of injustice had led the old man to do the most heinous of things such as murder. And the thought that, he can’t defend himself and can’t do anything because he is poor. Based on all the experiences of Tata Selo in the story, we can relate it to the reality that we experience.  The reality of injustice that the story presents. The story shows injustices such as contempt of poor, murder, sexual harassment and physical harassment that the characters have experienced. These represents the probable and realistic tragedies that everyone of us in the present may experience. In the present, these happenings are inevitable. As a young person, I should be careful with all the people and the surroundings. Just like in the story, it implicates that life is indeed cruel and unfair and we must be aware of that. We must be ready for the unexpected things that may happen. I should take care of myself. I should be aware that not all people will do good to me, some may cause harm to me and to others. Thus, the best thing to do is to avoid those people that do harm to me and even to my family. We must also always know that we can always seek help from the authorities that has the power to help the people in need and we can also help other as long as we can. In the present, the political government had improved compared to the past. We have the freedom of speech where the people has the rights to speak up and at present, women of today can fight for their rights.
